God Sightings

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

Part of our VBS this year at Mt. Zion was to help the children see what God is doing all around us… God Sightings.  It could be the beautiful sunset you see on the way home from work or the butterfly in your yard or even the nice way your kids were playing together today…  God is everywhere.  Sometimes we just get too busy and don’t see Him.  I noticed after I put out the fresh flowers (that Savannah got for her play) that I felt peaceful… a sense of calm.  They are just one of my God Sightings this week.  When I really think of nature and how awesome it is, I know that it can only come from God.

I want to share with your our Sunday School lesson (scripture) from last night…

Exodus 33:18-23 Then Moses said, “Please, let me see your glory.”  He said, I will cause all My goodness to pass in front of you, and I will proclaim the name Yahweh before you.  I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.”  But He answered, “You cannot see My face, for no one can see Me and live.”  The Lord said, “here is a place near Me.  You are to stand on the rock, and when My glory passses by, I will put you in the crevice of the rock and cover you with My hand until I have passed by.  Then I will take My hand away, and you will see My back, but My face will not be seen.”

Though we don’t see his face, God is there… we just have to look for Him.   What are your God Sightings for today?

nontraditional

Friday, June 26th, 2009

nontraditional…  I think I’m a little of that.  I realize that the more fun, nontraditional “poses” are always my favorites!  We were inspired to get a few shots of the kids a few days ago and of course, we had to let the kids get shots of us in return!  Savannah got this one of me and Shane.  The pose was Shane’s idea… I call it the “pretzel pose” and it’s fun and different!

I’m the same with weddings… I want to capture your entire day!  And that means not only shooting the traditonal family poses, but also the fun stuff thrown in!  This shot reminds me of that song by Jason Mraz (LOVE it… it’s SUCH a feel-good-song!)

I’m Yours (lyrics)

Well you done done me and you bet I felt it
I tried to be chill but you’re so hot that I melted
I fell right through the cracks
Now I’m trying to get back
Before the cool done run out
I’ll be giving it my bestest
And nothing’s going to stop me but divine intervention
I reckon it’s again my turn to win some or learn some

I won’t hesitate no more, no more
It cannot wait, I’m yours

Well open up your mind and see like me
Open up your plans and damn you’re free
Look into your heart and you’ll find love love love love
Listen to the music of the moment babay sing with me
I love peace for melody
And It’s our God-forsaken right to be loved love loved love loved

So I won’t hesitate no more, no more
It cannot wait I’m sure
There’s no need to complicate
Our time is short
This is our fate, I’m yours

Scooch on over closer dear
And i will nibble your ear

I’ve been spending way too long checking my tongue in the mirror
And bending over backwards just to try to see it clearer
But my breath fogged up the glass
And so I drew a new face and laughed
I guess what I’m be saying is there ain’t no better reason
To rid yourself of vanity and just go with the seasons
It’s what we aim to do
Our name is our virtue

But I won’t hesitate no more, no more
It cannot wait I’m sure

Well open up your mind and see like me
Open up your plans and damn you’re free
Look into your heart and you’ll find that the sky is yours
Please don’t, please don’t, please don’t
There’s no need to complicate
Cause our time is short
This oh this this is out fate, I’m yours!

Main Street Fun

Thursday, June 18th, 2009

I decided to take Sadie out for a mini session.  I buckled her into her carseat and drove the block to main street!  :)   As we got out, I started to think that I must really be crazy… just Sadie, me and the camera!  And she ran wild and laughed and laughed!  She thought it was hilarious to run down main street and I ended up with a few shots that I loved…

Take LOTS of pictures

Tuesday, June 16th, 2009

Yes, I know I’ve said it before.  And really, this post is as much a reminder for me as it is for you.  I’ve been going through an old external harddrive and I found lots of pictures from when Shane and I first met, but it’s been a while since we took a picture together.  I also stumbled across this picture of Daddy & Alex (with Momma in the background).  I’m sure it is one that Alex will cherish.  (I know that I do.)  He doesn’t go more than a few days without asking me questions about Papaw.   And these pictures and these memories… what a blessing they are!  We aren’t promised a long life… and when you lose a loved one, that fact really hits close to home.

Cherish your family… makes lots of memories and take lots of pictures!
