One Bite at a Time

Friday, May 30th, 2008

That’s how you eat an elephant.  One bite at a time.  lol

No, I haven’t completely lost my mind.  ha ha…  That is what Shane says to me when I’m feeling overwhelmed with work, kids, life… etc.  So I was sitting here proofing and thought of this…  it always makes me smile.

I suppose it’s the idea of chewing an elephant as he walks across the African Desert (gross, I know!).  Or maybe it’s the man who encourages me in everything I do who makes me smile.

Live Forever

Friday, May 30th, 2008

It’s VBS week at our church, Mt Zion Baptist!  We’re having so much fun and the kids are learning so much!  Our theme this year is Power Lab: Discovering Jesus’ Miraculous Power.  Last night the kids got to watch an experiment.

The tube represents Jesus and his death and when the contents are dropped into the diet coke {representing death/burial}, what do they do?  They shoot out… just as Jesus was risen after his death!!

Feel The Love

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

Hh1 I could feel the love… this family was so sweet!  I had a great time with John, Josh and Ms. Lucy!  It was the first day that I could really *feel* that summertime was really coming!  But despite the heat, they did great!!

I know I say this all the time, but I had a hard time choosing favorites!  I’m blessed with a job that I *love*!

Daddy Rocks…

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

Ok. Love the bib.  Love the Daddy. Love the baby.  {Love the other 2 who don’t love my camera so much}.

         Daddyrocks

Ever have one of those days?  You know the days that I’m talking about… where nothing seems to go quite right and you feel like you don’t get anything accomplished?!  Well, that was today for me.  I needed this image to remind me.  We all love.  God loves us. I love my kids.  We love Shane.  They love me.

God loves us.  It’s what matters…

Life As I Know It

Monday, May 26th, 2008

Well, it’s busy-busy!  I can’t remember the last time I updated you on what’s been going on with us.  We finally got the car issue settled. (It was totalled on March 25th)  But what was crazy is that we got a check for loss of use (rather than pay for a rental for us).  The number of days was calculated from the time the accident happened until the insurance agent called me with a payoff amount.  He called me with the figure 21 days after the accident happened.  But it was an additional 30+ days before we received a check… crazy.  Doesn’t make sense to me.  But at least it’s over.

Savannah and Alex finished up this school year last week.  We had parties, programs and awards day!  It was crazy busy too…  Savannah got AB honor roll for the year.  I’m so proud.  Though I can’t take much credit.  She does lots of studying on her own.  {blushing}  And Alex had a great year in Kindergarten.  Ms. Pittman was his teacher and she was great!  In fact, they were both blessed with fabulous teachers this year.  I can only hope that next year goes as well!  Then we have Sadie… gosh, she keeps me busy.  After all, it’s been 6 years since I had a baby around.  And let me tell you… this baby is high maintenance!

                                 {Sadie at 3½ Months}

I don’t know if you remember, but she had colic when she was born.  It was wild.  And that was putting it mildly.  If you know someone with a baby with colic, please help them.  It’s hard.  Really hard.  I feel guilty for asking anyone to babysit her.  Maybe I shouldn’t, but did I mention that she IS high maintenance?  :)

But I can’t let you think she’s all bad.  She’s our baby doll!  She started smiling and "talking" to us and we’re all putty in her hands.  She rolled over from tummy to back on May 24th {see image above!}.  She is seeing the chiropractor 3 times a week.  And at first, I thought…  "Ok, she’s 3 months old.  It’s just time for her to grow out of this colic stuff!"  BUT we had to miss an appointment because Savannah was sick {strep again and that’s a whole other story!}…  She went six days without treatment and we could completely see a difference in her!  She didn’t sleep as well and she just seemed more uncomfortable!  Once we got back on schedule, she appeared to be much happier!  We’re still going 3 times per week (to Dr. Leach in Starkville… love him!)  He, Amber and Cathy just love baby Sadie!

And work…  I’m proofing every chance I get.  Though I will say it’s crazy with school out now and making 3 trips per week {gas… ouch!} to Starkville!  If you’re waiting on proofs, I want you to know I’m working on them… keep an eye on my blog for a preview!  I’m posting as I’m proofing.  :)

Have a great day!

New

Kb1 Newborns are so sweet!  I feel like God was smiling on me to allow me to capture this sweet, sleepy smile.  It’s definitely one of life’s little blessings.

I had lots of favorites from your session, Kaley!  I just wanted to share a few of them…

Last ’08 Senior

Sunday, May 25th, 2008

Cd1 Christy was my last Senior of this year.  I can’t believe the next Seniors I shoot will be the class of ’09!  I remember being 10 years old and thinking about how far into the future 2010 was.  ha ha… Not so far into the future now!

We had fun going here and there!  A huge thank you to Ms. Peggy & Ms. Carol for letting us shoot in their gorgeous yards!  I had fun, Christy!!  :)

Expressions, Expressions!!

Saturday, May 24th, 2008

Mm1 I love, love it!  Avery was SO very expressive.  I’ll admit… I was a little worried.  I didn’t know if she would like me at first.  But she warmed up and we had a GREAT time!

It’s one reason I never want to rush your session.  I never know how kids will react to me.  After all, I was a *painfully* shy child.  I understand.  And when I say painfully, I mean it… I cried when a stranger even looked at me.  I want us to have plenty of time to play and talk and get to know one another.  I rarely schedule sessions back to back… I want to have a little extra "getting to know Avery/getting to know Ms Kim" time.

I think it worked…  :)

I hope you enjoy your preview, Miranda!  And believe it or not, we have many, many more sweet expressions!  It was SO hard for me to pick my favorites…  Avery is precious!

Growing Up

Friday, May 23rd, 2008

Tb1 I’ve gotten to see Reid as he’s growing up…  He came to me as a baby and now he’s turning into a little man!  He’s walking on little wobbly legs and to think…  the next time I see him for pictures, we’ll probably be running to keep up with him!  It’s part of what I love about my job!!  Well… that and ability to act silly and NOT feel funny about it!  I do what I need to do for a laugh!!  lol…  Tb2

But I must admit, only Reid’s mommy could get him to laugh like this {see above!}.  He’s a Momma’s boy…  it brings back such memories of Alex when he was born.  Those little boys just love their Momma’s!
