What To Wear {Kim Kelley style} | Mississippi Family Photographer

Friday, September 10th, 2010

Out with the khaki & white, IN with color and texture and print!!! {all the things that i ♥}  I was chatting online with Melissa Bell last night… she was working on her family’s clothing for a photo session this fall.  It gave me the kick in the pants to get started on my own family’s wardrobe!!  (LOVE picking this stuff out, btw!)  We’re so excited about Renee Reedy doing our family session… it’s the first time we’ve had a real session!  woohooo!!!

I had already fallen in love with Sadie’s outfit at The Sweet Pea so it came home with us after a trip to Greenwood, MS! :)   I started with her outfit and wanted to incorporate the pink and red with the rest of the family.  Gray and denim just came natural because Shane and I are fans.  Let your clothing be about YOU!  different is ok. different is good!

Catching Up | Mississippi Child Photographer

Monday, August 23rd, 2010

So, I’m playing “catch up” today and I already see that my to-do-list is too long for a 24 hour period.  ;)   I have 7 sessions to edit and if yours is one of them, I promise I’m working on them!  …having a blast looking at all these ADORABLE kids!!!  I was ordering proofs and ran across this one that I had forgotten about… LOVE her expression and wanted to share!

Wow! | Mississippi Child Photographer

Friday, August 6th, 2010

I haven’t mentioned this on my blog yet, but I’m working on my new office/waiting area!  Hopefully, it will all come together by 2011!  And today, my first wall display arrived.  I can’t believe I have never ordered these sizes of the SAME print.  As a photographer, I say MAKE an impact!  Bigger IS better.  Seriously, I keep walking by these prints propped on my dining room wall and saying, “Wow!”.  And to think *I*, the photographer, almost didn’t order the 20×24 because I didn’t think there would be a huge difference in the size of it and the 16×20.  There is actually a substantial difference.  Wanna see???

What is the moral of the story, you say?  Go BIG!  Make a statement.  Because your life IS Art. ♥

No Regrets | Mississippi Child Photographer

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010

I was talking to a friend the other day and wanted to share some of that conversation with you…  I’m somewhat ashamed to admit this since I am a photographer.  But sometimes at family get-togethers, I leave my camera at home.  {blushing}  Yes, it’s true!  I always feel the need to edit {and make them what I already see in my head} even the family snapshots.  So when my workload is heavy, I just leave the camera.  BUT, I’m getting better!!!  Yay!  It’s those little things that are SO worth capturing!  And one of the things I regret after Daddy died last year was that I didn’t have a picture of him and Sadie together… not the first one.  :(

I was looking through old pics and found this one from a zoo trip in 2007.  I’m SO glad that I have this shot… Alex, Cierra & Chase have grown SO much!  They look like such babies here!!

So my point is this… take your camera with you!  Take pictures even when you don’t feel like it!  One day you will be glad that you did.  Your babies grow up way to fast.  You already know it!  And you won’t ever look back at a picture of them and regret taking it.  But you will regret the ones not taken…

Doll | Mississippi Child Photographer

She brings new meaning to the term, baby doll!

Time flies, friends!  So, take lots of pics! It’s so hard to believe she’s this same sweet girl that stole my heart 6 months ago…
